St Pat Irish Festival: June 11 in Midtown Event Supports 1400 Members at Detroit’s Largest Senior Center

Noted Irish entertainers Charlie Taylor, Larry Larson,
and Brian Bonner perform at a previous St. Pat Irish
Festival

The 40th annual St. Pat Irish Festival on Sunday, June 11 is a great day for the entire family and a chance to support St Patrick Senior Center – Detroit’s largest activity center for people over 55.
“There’s no place like St. Pat’s,” says executive director SaTrice Coleman-Betts.  “And we want Detroit to know it!”

Here are just a few reasons to come to the festival, which runs from 1 to 9 PM:

  • There’s Irish music, singing and dancing on three separate stages – plus authentic food and drinks, a beer tasting, raffles, kids games, the “Chair of Cheer” (you’ll have to see for yourself) and an opportunity to win $10,000.
  • You can visit booming Midtown – home to dozens of new businesses, the new QLine, and many historic buildings and institutions like St. Pat’s.
  • Tickets are just $5.00 and $1.00 for children under 12. There’s also free parking and a designated area for bikes.
  • Support for seniors is more important today than ever. Older adults are a rapidly growing segment of the population, and they face many challenges – including finding reliable transportation, maintaining proper nutrition, and often dealing with health issues.

Proceeds from the annual festival help St. Pat’s provide its 1400 members with daily meals, an onsite wellness clinic, health and nutrition programs, transportation services, dozens of classes and activities, day trips, in-home services, and fun and fellowship.
St. Pats is continually expending its offerings, too.
So far this year, the company has launched its first-ever Saturday programs – which so far include dance and exercise classes, in addition to lunch.  Also, via a sponsorship from the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan, the center is working with Rising Stars Academy of Centerline to focus on healthy nutrition – including classes and meals.
